The Toshiro Bag is built around a reinforced rectangular body designed to retain its shape while offering practical storage.

Its exterior straps, dimensional pockets and contrasting leather reinforcements are inspired by vintage field cases, equipment bags and traditional utility luggage.

Unlike a soft messenger bag, the Toshiro has a defined silhouette with reinforced edges, structured compartments and a broad opening.

Protective Leather Wings

Leather wings are positioned at the sides of the main opening.

They provide additional coverage when the bag is opened and help prevent smaller objects from slipping out through the sides. They also reinforce the upper structure and contribute to the bag’s distinctive profile.

The wings are shaped to move naturally with the opening while remaining integrated into the body of the bag.

Large Front Compartment

A dimensional pocket is positioned across the front of the bag.

The pocket is secured with two adjustable leather straps and metal buckles, creating a dedicated space for items that need to remain separate from the main compartment.

Reinforced Leather Top Handle

The Toshiro Bag includes a compact leather top handle for hand carrying.

The handle is reinforced and shaped for a more comfortable grip. It attaches to metal rings positioned along the top of the bag, allowing it to move naturally while maintaining the bag’s balanced carrying position.

Multi-Strap Closure System

The main compartment is secured by two vertical leather straps with adjustable metal buckles.

The straps extend across the upper section of the bag and reinforce its structured silhouette. In addition to securing the opening, they allow minor adjustment according to the amount carried inside.

Smaller strap keepers hold the loose ends close to the body of the bag.

Atom Leather is the Bucharest-based father-and-son atelier of Vasile and Pavel Vasilache.

Their work brings together traditional leathercraft, structural pattern development and contemporary design techniques. Each product is created with close attention to proportion, durability and the natural behavior of vegetable-tanned leather.

Every Toshiro Bag is individually cut, dyed, reinforced, lined, stitched and edge-finished in their workshop.

The construction involves numerous separate leather components, exterior pockets, protective wings, reinforced attachment points and individually fitted hardware.

Natural Variations

Vegetable-tanned leather is a natural material. Grain patterns, small markings, wrinkles and subtle variations in color may differ from one bag to another.

The dark-brown and golden-tan colors are applied and finished by hand. Minor tonal differences across the surface are a natural result of the dyeing process and give every bag an individual appearance.

With use, frequently handled areas may become darker, smoother or more polished. The leather will gradually develop a patina influenced by handling, environment and the objects carried inside.

Small differences in stitching, edge finishing and surface appearance are characteristics of handmade production and are not considered defects.

Contrasting Leather

The contrasting straps, reinforcements and selected structural details use approximately 2 sq ft / 0.2 m² of 6–6.5 oz / 2.4–2.6 mm vegetable-tanned leather.

The heavier leather provides additional strength in areas exposed to regular movement, tension and weight.

Interior Lining

Depending on the selected construction, the interior can be lined with:

• PITEX 650 reinforcement material
• 2 oz / 0.8 mm pigskin leather
• 2.5 oz / 1 mm leather

The lining provides a finished interior surface and supports the bag’s structured construction.

Stitching

The bag is assembled with 0.04 in / 1 mm waxed thread.

Contrasting stitching highlights the edges, pockets, straps and reinforcement components.

Color and Finish

The leather is hand-dyed using:

• Fiebing’s Pro Dye in Dark Brown
• Fiebing’s Pro Dye in Yellow

The surface is protected with Fiebing’s Resolene. Exposed edges are shaped, dyed and finished with edge paint.

• Three 1.2 in / 30 mm buckles
